- A phone call from Germany brought our trip to a screeching halt!…….Right about here, I have to back track for some relevant information!…… after my parent’s bitter divorce; my two brothers and I were taken away from our mother & lived with our father, his mother & my younger brother’s nanny. My father took a sabbatical from his work for one year, to first of all get away–from everything that was holding him down…and secondly; to visit as many technical factories in Germany as he could to educate himself and bring himself up to par in his field…also, he could be free to “date” and forget his cares!. Up-on his return our lives took a change for the worst. He was discontented with us and his life constantly. When he came home from work we used to hide for the fear of getting in his way. There were always fights…… and unnecessary punishments. As though, their divorce was our fault and we were responsible for his unhappiness and loneliness. Our grand-mother urged him to take a wife. He obliged, he sent for one of his girlfriends in Germany. He liked their cleanliness & discipline, if nothing else she would bring some order into our lives… Our new mother, whom I will call “Mani” was just what he needed . She brought very strict and self serving rules into our household… Rules so absurd and impossible that our grand-mother & the nanny left to live with our Uncle.!! “Mani” locked the fridge and we were not allowed to even eat or drink, without her permission. So as soon as they got settled into this routine, we had nowhere to go but out! and as we became of age, we desired to leave for countries as remote as possible!…….I got married very young and for all the wrong reasons and ended up in Canada. My first brother to Germany (because of the language knowledge) to study, and our youngest brother had to stay home, he was still too young to leave! but soon he would join my first brother in Germany too… So, for years we didn’t see each-other we were yearning to be in one country and be a family again…..years passed by very quickly and the events that led us to HERE and NOW…….. also connected us profoundly to Germany, the Language, the culture and the people. After all we grew up in the German boot camp. Those events, and their details are so intricate; and impossibe to fit into a blog. My half brother from “Mani”, and her daughter from a previous relationship (whom I love!) like my own sister, are woven into our lives……….

Trip interrupted!
A lot has happened since I last posted a blog!. Around August last year my brother, and his wife suggested that; we should all take their upcoming vacation together! And I immediately agreed! Since I had just freed myself from owning A business, one year earlier and was excited to take adventure trips…. We planned, and planned…..We picked up brochures. We Went on line, looking for somewhere cool and camping friendly, with its parks, valleys and mountains. To catch up on Mainland and U.S. history .
Before I go any farther; I have to mention that we live in Honolulu, Hawaii. The most desired vacation destination in the world!… But, the disadvantage about living on an Island is that; where-ever we decided to go, we had to fly to mainland U.S. First. Often these trips became a major travel adventure…We continued planning into September… Portland? Vancouver? Northern California?… Should we fly to Los Angeles, then drive up north? or Fly into Portland and drive around and up north?…. Yes! that was it!!….we finally decided to; drive up and around Portland to Washington State and visit mount Rainier and mount Saint Helen for example With all its Historic sites and interesting places to see. Camp in different parks then drive back to Portland….. All very different to where we lived, and what we were used to……

Information overload!!!!!!!
Good morning!
After watching the morning news ; I am ready to go off somewhere & bury myself in the sand! ( that’s too extreme!) or jump into the ocean for a long swim. But, unfortunately I don’t have the time for it! So, what I can do; is to fret about it , Question it ,analyze it, & worry about it! Why?? is it my civil duty to be informed?? what do I do with that information?? can I change anything? The oil spill in the gulf of Mexico sure is a big task to take on! The BP (British petrol) who is the operator of the rig , has not even commented about the accident . Yet I can see the consequences of this accident on wild life, and the surrounding area which was already devastated by the famous ”Hurricane Katrina” 41% of our national sea food comes from that area; does that mean :41% less sea food /Or is it going to be 41% more expensive to eat sea food??? I don’t know!!! I am already getting anxious talking about it! What kind of person am I ??? don’t I care?? perhaps better to have my head in the sand than jump in the Ocean ;since it could definitely be polluted!!! Keep on plugging!! Until later, CIAO,Minou.

Hi everyone : Does everybody has ADD or is it just ME!???
Since Tuesday I am trying to post a blog on my site. There is always interruptions;first of course I have to get a cup of coffee it helps me concentrate, you think?? so… I get a cup & come back to the computer .. just as I am about to proceed the phone rings.. I have caller Id. it is ; Big Brothers, Big sisters, oh yes ! I got a old suitcase packed up ready for them; clothes,bags,& boots I haven’t used for a long time. I better answer this! ,so I don’t have to call them later! OK where were we,? Yes! yesterday was Wednesday normally my daughter ” Katia” & I go to the gym. I was about to post a blog when she called : ( are you ready ?) Yes! I said; but , as soon as I finish this blog I will put on my gym clothes ! then she wanted to know since when do I blog?? I told her do you want me to explain to you now ? or get dressed? or blog ? then I can tell you at the gym?? You know I can’t multi task ! she agreed, but as soon as I told her this ,I pushed a wrong button & everything I was working on got wiped out!!!! so I stopped & went to the gym!!!! So now I better publish this before something else happens or someone else calls & throws off again til tomorrow maybe?? CIAO. Minou.
